We developed an attachment for the Vemco V9 acoustic tags with the customised applicator for effective tagging. The solution enables the researchers to track critically endangered Angelsharks (Squatina squatina) in their last stronghold. A modified cattle tag is used for the attachment of the acoustic tag to the first dorsal fin, which proved to be the most cost-optimal solution. Our solution is open and affordable while ensuring minimal impact on animal behaviour and life history.
