At IRNAS – Institute for Development of Advanced Applied Systems we have been actively promoting LoraWAN networks in Slovenia and worldwide for the past two years. To initiate active development of LoraWAN devices and services in our region we are organizing a conference on this topic as part of the global series of The Things Conference on Tour by The Things Network. The Things Network is a network of public LoraWAN gateways, server infrastructure and a community of more than 40.000 developers, being the leading learning and testing environment for new applications.
The mission of The Things Conference on Tour Maribor is to educate, demonstrate and empower developers and companies to start using LoraWAN technology and boost the innovation in IoT sector. The conference will happen in Maribor, Slovenia on 4th October 2018, bringing together more than 100 participants from Slovenia, Croatia, Austria (Graz region) and North East Italy, primarily companies and professional developers but also educators that will be able to apply the knowledge about LoRaWAN technologies in their teaching process. Together with top international and local experts, inventors and researchers we’ll be exploring interesting use cases and opportunities of LoRaWAN and Things Network technologies through keynotes and hands-on workshop sessions. Moreover, each participant will go home with a working LoRaWAN device to continue exploring The Things Network after the event.
We are happy to announce our first speakers – two top experts in the field will be joining us – Johan Stokking, a co-founder and tech lead at The Things Network and Thomas Telkamp, a co-founder and CTO at Lacuna Space. Johan Stokking will be updating us on the most recent developments of The Things Network while Thomas Telkamp will be sharing how Lacuna Space is flying gateways on satellites to fill the voids in coverage, enabling monitoring in remote locations or tracking of mobile ‘things’, no matter where they are. Stay tuned for a full conference programme!
The afternoon hand-on sessions designed for the participants to gain the right skillset to develop real LoRaWAN products and services will be running in three parallel tracks.
• Track A: Network. Explore hardware implementation of LoraWAN devices, building networks and creating robust solutions.
• Track B: Cloud: Envision and implement cloud integration and deliver the value to the customer.
• Track C: Education/Mixed: Empower the next generation of engineers building solutions with LoraWAN.
If you have something interesting to showcase, share or demonstrate, please drop us a line – the call for speaker is open. Please, do not hesitate to get in contact also Ii you are considering becoming a sponsor or if you are interested in any other form of collaboration. We are looking forward to your emails!
