Camera-based monitoring platform with WiFi connectivity and solar power for remote area deployment to monitor the wildlife passing through the canopies of the trees. The solution enables the researchers to link individual trees together and relay photographs and short videos captured in the treetops. This can be done using line-of-sight wireless connectivity by identifying pioneer tree species that have grown above the canopy’s average height. Eight cameras were deployed in Manu, Peru in tropical Amazon rainforest and connected to a base station with satellite back-haul on-site.
